Pat Hughes (Vice President Commercial Operations) provides growth expertise to Sunrise Strategic Partners’ portfolio companies in functional areas such as marketing, sales, and operations.  He also is responsible for originating and performing due diligence on Sunrise’s investments.

Pat most recently held brand management and marketing positions at Boulder Brands, working across a portfolio of brands that included EVOL, Udi’s Gluten Free, Glutino, Earth Balance, and Smart Balance.  Prior to Boulder Brands, Pat served with distinction in combat in Afghanistan as a U.S. Marine Corps officer with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion.  Pat received a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Colorado Boulder Leeds School of Business.

Before Pat left on his second tour in Afghanistan, Steve asked him what his plans were when he came back. Pat said he was thinking of going to business school and Steve encouraged him to work for a business first. Pat came back from Afghanistan as a Captain in Marine Recon and four years later has an MBA and is Commercial Director for Sunrise.

 

Joe Matta (Commercial Operations Manager) provides assistance to portfolio companies in functional areas such as marketing, sales, and operations.  He is also responsible for originating and performing due diligence on Sunrise's investments, as well as providing assistance in functional areas such as financial planning and analysis, strategy development, and business development.

Prior to joining Sunrise Strategic Partners, Joe worked at Trilantic Capital Partners where he focused on investments in the Consumer and Business Services industries.  Previously, Joe spent two years working in investment banking at Barclays.

 

Nick Molé (Vice President Investments) is responsible for originating, performing due diligence on, and structuring Sunrise Strategic Partners' investments. He also provides assistance to Sunrise's portfolio companies in functional areas such as financial planning and analysis, strategy development, and business development.

Prior to joining Sunrise Strategic Partners, Nick worked at Castanea Partners, a private equity firm focused on the consumer and retail sectors. Previously, Nick spent two years working in investment banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Nick received a Masters of Business Administration, with Distinction, from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Finance, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Lehigh University.

 

Steve Young (Strategy & Operations Advisor) provides growth expertise to portfolio companies in functional areas such as strategy, marketing, sales, innovation, and operations. Steve has 20 years of experience with General Mills, most recently responsible for the Annie’s acquisition and business performance, and leading General Mills’ broader $700+ million portfolio of natural/organic businesses.

Steve has held U.S. and global management positions at the officer level within General Mills, on diverse categories ranging from yogurt, cereal, baking, meals, and better-for-your snacks.
